The LuxaScope Auris CCT otoscope in the colour white has a unique illumination:
2 x 4 LEDs allow otoscopic examination with different shades of white light - switchable at the touch of a button. The warm white light with a higher red component of the visible spectral range is comparable to conventional light sources and provides the usual illumination. In addition, the long-wave light has the advantage of penetrating deeper into tissue, which is a great advantage when examining the tympanic cavity and the bony structures behind the eardrum. The cold white light, in turn, enables better contrast imaging of capillaries and areas with increased blood circulation, so that, for example, prospective centres of inflammation can be detected early.
